How it works
The sun setting over Morecambe Bay behind a navigation tower, the fells low on the horizon.

The bay does this most nights

Morecambe faces west across open water to the Lakeland fells — which is why the sunsets here have been drawing painters, photographers and day trippers for two hundred years. Turner came for it. Our west-facing rooms look straight at it.

What's here

More than
you'd think

A faded resort halfway through a comeback, with a national park either side of it and the Eden Project on the way.

On the front

The Stone Jetty

The old harbour arm, now a walkway out into the bay with a little lighthouse at the end. The best spot in town at low sun.

Two minutes

The Midland Hotel

Oliver Hill's 1933 art deco landmark, curved white against the sea, with Eric Gill's carvings inside. Worth a drink even if you're not staying there.

On the prom

Eric Morecambe

Bronze, mid-dance, one leg up. The most photographed statue in Lancashire and a fair summary of the town's sense of humour.

Coming soon

Eden Project Morecambe

The shell-shaped pavilions rising on the seafront. It's already changing the town, and we're a few minutes' walk from the site.

Ten minutes

Heysham village

Half Moon Bay, a Norman church, and stone graves cut into the headland above the sea a thousand years ago. Genuinely strange and worth the trip.

Twenty minutes

RSPB Leighton Moss

The biggest reedbed in the north west. Bitterns, marsh harriers, and a starling murmuration on winter evenings.

Forty-five minutes

The Lake District

Windermere's south end is closer from here than it is from most of Cumbria. The Dales are the same distance the other way.

Fifteen minutes

Lancaster

A castle that was a working prison until 2011, a Georgian quarter, and the Ashton Memorial looking down over the whole bay.

Across the sands

The bay walks

Guided crossings of the sands with a local guide — never on your own, the tides here come in faster than you can run.

Two hotels, one booking

Half price if
you're working

Prove you're here for work, book seven nights or more, and every night is half our nightly rate — with the place set up for the things that matter when you're away from home for a job.

Terms

Week to week

Seven nights minimum, then roll it on a week at a time for as long as you need. No fixed term and no paying for weeks you don't use.

Parking

£3 for twelve hours

Parking is across the road, pay and display — £3 covers a full twelve hours, so one ticket sees out a shift. Long-wheelbase vans, tippers and pickups all fit.

Kit

Boot room & drying

Heated drying space for boots and waterproofs, so wet gear stays out of the bedrooms.

Laundry

Washer and dryer

Guest laundry on site, no coins needed. Nobody should be doing socks in a sink on a four-week stint.

Connectivity

Wi-Fi that holds up

Full-fibre broadband across both buildings. Fine for a Teams call, a shift report or streaming in the evening.

Access

Come and go on shift

24-hour key access, no curfew and no reception queue. Nights, days and back shifts all welcome.

Proving it

Any one of these will do

We're not after your payslips. Anything that shows the stay is a work stay is enough, and most of it we'd see anyway.

  • A company email addressBook from it and that's the job done.
  • Payment from the companyCard or transfer in the company name.
  • A site pass or ID badgeShow it at check-in, we won't keep a copy.
  • A purchase orderFor anyone booking rooms for a crew.
  • A letter or email from your employerOne line confirming you're working locally.
  • An agency placementYour consultant's confirmation is plenty.

Common questions

Asked often
enough

Do you take weekly bookings for contractors?

Yes — that's most of what we do. Seven nights is the minimum for the working rate, and after that it rolls week to week for as long as the job runs. No fixed term and no tenancy agreement.

How far are you from Heysham 1 and 2 power stations?

The Cumberland View Hotel on Heysham Road is about seven minutes from the main gate by car. The Marine Road hotel is about twelve. Both are well inside a sensible drive before an early shift.

Can I get a room near the Eden Project Morecambe site?

The Marine Road hotel is a few minutes' walk from the seafront site — you can leave the van parked and walk to work.

Do you take NHS and agency staff?

Yes. Agency nurses, locums and healthcare assistants working at Royal Lancaster Infirmary or across the Morecambe Bay trust are welcome, and 24-hour key access means night shifts aren't a problem.

What counts as proof that I'm working?

A company email address, a payment in the company name, a site pass or ID badge, a purchase order, or a line from your employer or agency. We're not asking for payslips.

Is there parking for a van?

Parking is across the road from the Marine Road hotel — £3 for twelve hours, so one ticket covers a shift. Long-wheelbase vans, tippers and pickups all fit.

Do you do breakfast?

No, and the rate is lower for it. There are supermarkets, cafés and takeaways within a few minutes of both hotels.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No deposit and no bond. It's a hotel room, not a let — you pay the week in advance and that's the whole of it.

Is there a tenancy agreement to sign?

No. There's no tenancy, no contract and no notice period beyond 48 hours. You're a hotel guest, so nothing gets registered against you and nothing follows you when you leave.

Are bills included?

Yes — heating, hot water, electricity and Wi-Fi are all in the rate, and there's no council tax to worry about. The price you're quoted is the price you pay.

How do I pay?

Card or bank transfer, a week at a time in advance. A company card or a transfer in the company name is fine, and we'll give you a receipt for expenses.

What happens if the job finishes early?

Give us 48 hours and you stop paying. You're never tied into weeks you don't use, which is the point of doing it week to week.

What do I need to bring at check-in?

Photo ID, and whatever you're using to show you're working locally if you want the half-price rate. Nothing else — bedding, towels and laundry are all here.

Can you take a block booking for a crew?

Yes. Send the headcount and rough dates and we'll hold rooms for 48 hours while it's signed off. Ten rooms or more, ask us about contract rates.
